Telecom & EMF

Reliable measurements for safer, smarter networks. ICNIRP-compliant electromagnetic field (EMF) surveys, telecommunications site assessments, and precision field measurements that help operators, developers, and authorities make informed decisions with confidence.

Where Strategy Meets Impact

Telecommunications sites in Oman must demonstrate that electromagnetic field (EMF) levels in their surroundings remain within the limits established by ICNIRP and applicable local regulations. Demonstrating compliance requires calibrated instrumentation, a consistent and repeatable methodology, and clear reporting that meets regulatory requirements.

The division’s work includes four EMF consultancy programmes for Oman’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, as well as site assessments across the Omantel, Ooredoo and other operator networks in Oman.

The technical methodology was initially established in collaboration with Ramboll India as technical partner. Survey execution, data analysis and reporting are now delivered entirely in-house.

Field measurements are performed using the Narda SRM-3006 frequency-selective EMF measurement system, which covers up to 6 GHz natively and reaches the upper millimetre-wave band with a 5G FR2 down-converter antenna.

Solutions We Provide

Our Expertise

01
Site Assessment and PlanningAll sources of electromagnetic fields at the site are identified before measurements begin. A structured measurement plan is then prepared, defining the relevant locations, frequencies and assessment parameters.
02
Field MeasurementElectric field strength, magnetic field strength and power density are measured at defined points.
03
Analysis and Compliance AssessmentRecorded values are analysed and compared with applicable ICNIRP, FCC and Omani regulatory limits. Each result includes the measured level and the available compliance margin, providing a clear basis for assessment.
04
Regulatory ReportingA regulatory-ready compliance report is prepared for each site, documenting the methodology, equipment, measurement results, analysis and compliance status for submission by the operator to the relevant authority.
Why it matters

Why an EMF survey is needed

Regulatory complianceEvidenced in a report a regulator will accept.
Safety of staff and publicAssurance for the people who work at the site and for those living around it.
Finding hotspots earlyIdentifying areas of elevated field strength before they become a problem or a complaint.
Demonstrating responsibilityEvidence of corporate responsibility that operators can put in front of regulators and clients.

What a measurement actually looks like

A broadband probe on a tripod, a calibrated meter at its foot, and a site that has to be reached before anything can be recorded. Most of the work is the reaching.

The sites

Where the readings are taken

Compliance is decided at the tower, not in the office. Each of these is a site visit before it is a report.
